Research on Indigenous Games

The research on Indigenous games was a truly collaborative effort, conducted jointly by all members of the consortium across various provinces of Zambia. This unified approach ensured that diverse regional perspectives and expertise were represented throughout the process.

The Consortium for Sustainable Development (CSD) was born from the shared vision of eight organisations committed to leveraging their collective strengths, resources, knowledge, and reach to achieve deeper and more sustainable community outcomes.

In March 2024, driven by the same collaborative spirit, CSD secured $60,000 from the Global Fund for Children (GFC) to explore the integration of Indigenous games into teaching. This joint initiative led to the development of the Indigenous Games Toolkit (yet to be published). The funding supported a consortium-wide effort that included data collection, game documentation, toolkit design, educator training, and implementation in schools across selected communities.

To further strengthen this collaborative work, an additional $14,500 was secured to enhance community engagement, conduct monitoring and evaluation, and refine the toolkit based on field insights. Every stage of this initiative was grounded in the strength and synergy of the consortium’s collective action.
